Intrepid Travel
offers inexpensive, small-group, non-touristy, deeply-cultural
international sightseeing adventures. Travelers typically stay
in local guesthouses or small hotels, take local transportation, eat at
local restaurants ... typically no tourist buses, no tourist restaurants,
etc. This method of travel enables sightseers to delve deeply into
local culture while saving money! OASC members have been to China,
Costa Rica, Egypt, the Galapagos, Peru
(Machu Picchu, Inca Trail, and Amazon Rainforest Jungle), and
Vietnam.

"Matt ... This trip was great.
I love Intrepid's culture-consciousness, and the way in which they
included activities rarely made us feel like 'tourists.' It was
well-planned and the free time was great. I would definitely use the
company again. And Vietnam and the people were beyond description. Don't
miss this destination...and don't wait for them to modernize too much more
before you go. You don't want to miss the traditional people, villages and
traditions!! Loved it. Thx for your help in arranging it."

"I'm so glad I went! Costa Rica is a beautiful
country with so many plants and animals to see. I loved all the stuff I
did; ziplining, hiking, hot springs, white water kayaking, snorkeling,
etc."

"David and I took the Intrepid
trip 'Essence of China Southbound' for three weeks from Beijing to Hong
Kong. It was amazing in its diverse destinations including places not
frequented, such as staying in two monasteries on Mt. Emei (a sacred
Buddhist pilgrimage destination) and visiting the Grand Buddha in Leshan
just to mention two. We always stayed in ethnic areas, not heavily
touristed, and had great places to explore nearby. As always with a longer
Intrepid trip, lots of free time is built in for those of us who love to
wander and discover. Even our trip down the Yangtse River was on a Chinese
tourist boat, no Westerners in sight. We had a great adventure and loved
it all! I highly recommend the 'Original' Intrepid trips and have had the
best time with that category."
